COVID-19 Community Cancellations and Changes


Updated 04/15/2020The annual American Legion Spaghetti and Meatball Dinner scheduled for April 22nd is postponed due to preventative precautions for COVID-19.

The Military 20 year club meeting scheduled for April 27th is postponed.

The Boat launch on East Front Street in Peshtigo near the City Garage will be closed as of 9 p.m. on 4/9.

All legion activities of Post 0039 Marinette, WI are suspended till further notice due to the pandemic outbreak, as per directive of State commander.

Marinette is calling off some of its typical waste collection activities for the time being. Due to COVID-19, the City will not be conducting large item pickup nor will it be collecting junk during the month of April.

The DAR Boys and Girls Club annual Taste of the M&M Counties Fundraiser scheduled for April 30th has been postponed to a date to be determined in the fall.

Suspension of client services at both Goodwill Industries Marinette locations will continue until further notice.

The Menominee St, Vincent de Paul Food Pantry located at Resurrection Parish has changed their hours to 10 AM until 1 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Food will distributed on a drive-thru basis only from the rear parking lot. Bags will be pre-packed and brought to your car. The Menominee food pantry is for Menominee City and County residents only. If you are a Wisconsin resident, please go to the food pantry at the thrift store in Marinette.

Police in Marinette and Menominee are reminding people, particularly those looking to take advantage of the spring walleye run, to keep social distancing in mind even when outside. A recent shot of the fishing platform along the Hattie Street Bridge that was circulated on social media shows dozens crowded on the walkway despite state mandates in both Michigan and Wisconsin to avoid gatherings of ten people or more and to keep a distance of at least six feet from other people to avoid contracting or spreading COVID-19. Officials in both cities are asking residents to voluntarily comply with these orders. They say if the problem persists, they’ll be forced to take immediate action and close the platform.

All children 18 and under are eligible to receive a free lunch and breakfast for the following day during the school closure period due to COVID-19. Drive through pick up remains available from 11:00am-12 Noon at Park Elementary School, Marinette Middle School, and Marinette High School. The child does NOT need to be present in order to pick up the meals.

In addition, three Westlund Buses will make stops at 12 different locations throughout the District, Monday-Friday, providing free lunch and breakfast. You do not have to sign up for this service, just show up. A complete schedule of stops is below:

The Induction Ceremony for the Menominee High School Athletic Hall of Fame scheduled for May 2nd has been postponed until August 22nd at Riverside Golf Club. All tickets sold thus far will be honored on the August date. Please contact John Wills if you have tickets but will not be able to attend on the new date. Tickets are sold at the High School Athletics Office and the District Office at Blesch school, but will not be available until these facilities reopen.

The City of Marinette dump site will be closed until further notice.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has issued a “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order directing all businesses and operations in Michigan to temporarily suspend in-person operations. People should only leave their home or place of residence under very limited circumstances, like for medical help, if they’re a part of that critical infrastructure workforce, engaged in an outdoor activity, or going to the grocery store. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers announced this morning he’s issuing a “Safer At Home” order for the entire state starting Tuesday. The order means all non-essential businesses statewide need to close. Details of  that  order are available here. If individuals need to be outside, they are being asked to exercise social distancing.

Beginning 03/19, all lobbies of The Stephenson National Bank and Trust  will be open for scheduled appointments for urgent business only. All eTellers/drive-ups, eBanking services, and the customer call center will remain available as normal. SNBT plans to operate in this manner until at least April 6, 2020.

Marinette County Elderly Services will close all meal sites. Home delivered meals will still be served.

Christ Lutheran Church in Menominee has cancelled all worship services until further notice.

Community Covenant Church in Menominee has cancelled all gatherings through 3/30 including Sunday Worship.

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grover has suspended all Sunday and Wednesday services until further notice.

Trinity Lutheran Church in Marinette has cancelled all Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday services until April 6th

To mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has ordered that all public and private mass gatherings of 10 or more persons are prohibited in Wisconsin as of 5 this afternoon. There are exemptions for a number of types of facilities, including retail, office spaces, manufacturing and distribution, governmental, hotels, childcare, airports, and others. The ban does include theaters, fitness centers, and places of worship.
At the same time, all restaurants and bars in the state must close except restaurants may offer take-out or delivery services, but no seating.

Resurrection Parish has cancelled all services until further notice

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Marinette has announced the Lord’s Dinner meal this Wednesday (March 18th) will be a takeout meal, which can be picked up between 4:30 and 6pm. The Lord’s Diner will be cancelled after this week until further notice.

Our Saviors Lutheran Church is also all church functions including the Sunday Worship will be cancelled until further notice.

Goodwill will be suspending all services for clients at both Marinette facilities from Thursday, March 19- April 3


The Community REC Center will close until further notice, effective at 9 this evening, March 16, 2020 at 9:00pm.

The Marinette Senior Center will be closed UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. There will be no programs, activities, fitness classes or events during this time. Marinette Co. Elderly Services will not be holding a daily congregate meal at the Marinette Senior Center during this time. Menominee City Hall Services will be conducted only at the drive-up window area. Please try to conduct your business via telephone or email. A citizen may request an appointment with an employee if needed.

The M&M YMCA is closed until March 31st to comply with the Michigan Governor’s mandate.

Porterfield Lutheran Church and Beaver America Church are cancelling their Lenten soup supper and services this week.

 Business After Hours scheduled for Tuesday, March 17 at Marinette Farm and Garden has been cancelled.

Sunday Night Bingo at the Marinette Knights of Columbus will be cancelled for the next 3 weeks beginning March 16th due to the Corona Virus prevention efforts.

Marinette/Merryman Headstart will be closed until 4/6/20

Marinette Schools, in accordance with the Governor of Wisconsin’s mandate, will be closed from March 16th through April 5th to mitigate the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus. During this time, there will be no school athletics, club, or other after school activities.


The DAR Boys & Girls Club will be closing from March 16-April 5.

Due to the closing of the Menominee Public Schools
River Cities Concert Association will be cancelling their next concert “Ball in the House” that was to be held on Thursday March 26th at Blesch Auditorium in Menominee Michigan.   They are attempting to reschedule the concert.

Silver Sneakers classes held at Northland Lutheran Villages in Marinette and New Life Church in Peshtigo are cancelled until further notice.

The Porterfield community rummage sales scheduled for March 20 and 21 are being postponed and will be rescheduled later this spring.
