9th Annual Logging and Heritage Festival Begins Today
07/12/2019- It’s the biggest event of the year for the City of Marinette. The annual Logging and Heritage Festival begins today and as many as 30000 people from throughout the M-and-M and across the country will attend. Mayor Steve Genisot says the festival provides a weekend full of activities and entertainment for guests of all ages.
The Festival kicks off with the Moose Lodge Fish Fry and music at City Park, followed by a free family movie on Stephenson Island. Saturday includes the Ella Smetana Memorial 5K, the Great Lakes Lumberjack Show, and fireworks on Stephenson Island, and Sunday offers the Bike and Car show on Main Street as well as the Logging and Heritage Festival Parade. City Clerk Lana Bero says this year’s parade marshal is Judy Alwin, one of the Festival’s founders.
People heading to the festival are encouraged to park at Jack’s Fresh Market in Menominee and take advantage of the free shuttle being offered to and from Stephenson Island.
