Advocate Aurora Health to Assume Full Ownership of BAMC
01/24/2019- Bay Area Medical Center’s healthcare partner for the past four years will now take full ownership of the hospital. Advocate Aurora Health- the resulting name of the merger between Aurora Health Care and Advocate Health Care- announced Wednesday they have signed an agreement to assume complete ownership of BAMC. Under the agreement, the hospital will be renamed Aurora Medical Center- Bay Area. Ed Harding, President and CEO of BAMC says the transition is a natural evolution of the partnership held between BAMC and Aurora since 2014. He adds the move will ensure the continued strength and stability of the medical center.
Harding says the agreement will cause little change in the way patient care is provided. What has yet to be fully determined is the extent of the impact it will have on current BAMC employees.
The agreement also calls for Advocate Aurora Health to provide $25-million of funding to aid in the development of a new foundation to support health and wellness programs in the area and Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area. The deal is expected to close in mid-2019.
