Area Businesses Backing Shop with a Cop

10/08/2018- As many as 80 kids could have a merrier Christmas this year thanks to the local Shop with a Cop program. The event pairs youths with a local police officer to purchase gifts for the participant’s family and gives kids a chance to meet officers in a positive light. Tammy LaPlant is the program organizer and she says preparing for Shop with a Cop is not only a year-round effort, but a community effort, as well. This month, local businesses are stepping up to make sure the event is a success.
Joe Stark is the owner of Papa Murphy’s in Marinette and he says they’re also pitching in to help cover program costs this month. From October 25th through the 29th, 20% of all online orders will be donated to Shop with a Cop with code “spirit.”
This year’s Shop with a Cop will be held December 1st and in addition to monetary donations, LaPlant says a little extra manpower is needed. She’s seeking volunteers to help wrap the gifts the kids choose for their families. Those interested in helping out should call 715-735-0225.
