City Will Restrict Landscape Waste Drop-Off Hours

Yard waste drop-off hours will be scaled back in Menominee. In his monthly report to the City Council Monday, City Manager Tony Graff says since the implementation of the Waste Management roll-off containers for landscape waste at the city’s Department of Public Works yard just a few weeks ago, Waste Management has already emptied four loads of debris, due in part to the misuse of the containers. The yard is currently open 24-hours a day, seven days a week, but Graff says starting next week, residents will only be able to drop off their grass clippings on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Mayor Jean Stegeman also expressed concern that Menominee residents may not be the only ones disposing of their waste at the yard. Graff says once the new drop-off days are established, the City may consider expanding Wednesday’s schedule to allow for some evening drop-off hours.
