Committee Accepts BLRPC Proposal for Economic Development
02/07/2019- It will take at least another six months to develop a strategic plan for Marinette County’s role in local economic development under a new proposal from Bay Lakes Regional Planning Commission. The County Board had authorized Administrator John Lefebvre to seek a proposal from the organization that would more clearly establish the County’s role in promoting, enhancing, or conducting economic and community development. Lefebvre brought that document to the Development Committee this week. The plan would carry with it a $5750 price tag and Lefebvre says it would involve a comprehensive study of the county, its objectives, and current efforts.
After months of discussing the need for further economic development initiatives, Supervisor Clancy Whiting says he’s glad to see the wheels finally in motion and feels the county is getting a fair price for what they’ll potentially gain.
The Development Committee vote four-to-two to approve the BLRPC proposal. Lefebvre estimates it will take the company about six months to complete the work, the results of which will then be presented to the County Board.
