County Signs CPS Resolution

Marinette County joins a growing list of those across Wisconsin seeking more state funding for Child Protective Services. The county’s Board of Supervisors approved a resolution requesting the funding increase last week. The resolution states state funding for county child support services has remained stagnant since 2007 even though county agency costs have continued to rise due to growing caseloads, inflation, and new federal regulations. Now, Marinette County and six others are urging the state to enact legislation allowing county governments to have input on the regulation that state funding for county child support agencies be increased under Wisconsin’s 2019-2021 budget. In August, nearly 7900 children were living in out-of-home care statewide. That’s an increase of more than 25% since 2012.
