Deer Habitat Improvements in Menominee County
The Michigan DNR has awarded nearly 12-thousand dollars to the Dickinson Conservation District Cheese Factory Co-op for their efforts to better whitetail deer habitats in Menominee County. The grants were awarded through the DNR’s Deer Habitat Improvement Partnership Initiative, which seeks to create long-term partnerships with organizations whose formal mission is to promote wildlife conservation and/ or hunting. In total, the DNR awarded 100-thousand dollars in deer habitat improvement funding for 11 projects throughout the UP. The DCD Cheese Factory Co-op will use the money to treat 17 acres with grass and wildflower plantings and 20 acres of shrub and conifer plantings.
