Deer Habitat Restoration Grants Open for UP Counties

01/16/2019- The Michigan DNR is again offering grant funding to help improve deer herds in the state’s Upper Peninsula. The agency’s Deer Habitat Improvement Partnership Initiative has opened for 2019 and will provide a total of $100-thousand to fund projects by organizations whose formal mission is to promote wildlife conservation and/or hunting in the UP. Grants range from$2000 to $15000 each. Applications are due by March 1st and can be found on the Michigan DNR website. Grant recipients will be notified by March 18th. This is the eleventh year the DNR has hosted the Deer Habitat Improvement Partnership program and they’ve invested more than $630-thousand to enhance deer habitats across all 15 UP counties.
