Expect Busy Roads this Holiday Weekend

Hwy41.jpg

05/24/2019- It’s the unofficial start to summer and this Memorial Day weekend, travelers asked to plan ahead, buckle up, and be safe. The Wisconsin DOT says most highway construction is put on hold, but motorists may still encounter some work zones requiring reduced speed and extra caution. Peak travel times are expected to occur between noon and 8:00 PM tonight and Monday. Construction in most major highway work zones will stop by noon today and will not resume until 6:00 AM Tuesday. To help prevent traffic deaths and injuries, law enforcement agencies across Wisconsin will be out participating in the Click It or Ticket seat belt mobilization. Drivers are also reminded to eliminate distractions while driving and be prepared to move over or slow down when approaching emergency vehicles stopped along the roadway with their lights flashing. AAA predicts we’ll see the second-highest travel volume on record this Memorial Day since they began tracking holiday travel volumes dating back to 2000.
