Fate of Local Kimberly Clark Plant Unclear

It’s still unclear if and how Kimberly Clark’s plan to eliminate up to 5500  jobs from their workforce and shut down 10 of their facilities will affect workers at the local plant. Wednesday the company announced the upcoming closures of their Wisconsin-based Cold Spring and Neenah Nonwovens Facilities, resulting in the loss of over 600 jobs. Bay Cities Radio reached out to the Kimberly Clark Corporation inquiring about the fate of the Marinette factory. In an email response, a spokesperson said:
“Business decisions that impact our employees are among the most difficult ones to make…We remain committed to treating our employees fairly and respectfully. At this time, the company’s focus is on our employees and we do not have further comment.”
The cut-backs are part of an effort to reduce company costs by $1.5 billion by 2021.
