Funding Allocated for Marinette County Forest Roads
Nearly 285-thousand dollars of state funds will benefit forest roads in 24 Wisconsin counties. Among those is Marinette County, who will receive the largest payment of more than 72-thousand dollars. The money is being allocated through the Wisconsin DOT’s County Forest Road Aids program, which helps defray county costs for the maintenance and improvement of public roads within county forests. To qualify, roads must meet minimum design standards, be located within a county forest, be open and used for travel; and cannot be town roads or county or state highways. Marinette County has 232 miles of eligible county forest roads. Oconto County is also on the list of recipients and will be given more than 11-thousand dollars for their 37 miles of eligible forest roads.
