Future USS Billings Involved in Accident in Canada
07/02/2019- One of the Navy’s newest warships was damaged following an accident off the shores of Montreal last week. While on its way to its homeport in Mayport, Florida, the Fincantieri Marinette Marine-built future-USS Billings reportedly struck a bulk cargo ship and the LCS suffered damage to its starboard bridge wing. It’s not clear yet just what caused the LCS to lose control and hit the other ship, which was anchored at the time. No one was injured in the accident and LCS 15 will now remain in Montreal until a full assessment of the incident and resulting damage can be completed.
