Good Cause for Furry Paws Saturday
10/11/2019- The 24th annual auction and fundraiser benefiting the Menominee Animal Shelter will be held tomorrow evening at the Pullman House north of Menominee. Nancy Holzberger with the Animal Shelter says there’s something for everyone to bid on and this year they’re upping the ante on some auction items with new Aurora Health Hats and a chance to see the Green Bay Packers live in action.
“We’re going to put out ten hats by different items and whoever is the winner of that particular item that has the hat next to it, they’ll go into a special drawing for a Green Bay Packers package. It includes two tickets to the December 8th game with the Redskins…It’s a really nice package so you only have a one in ten chance of getting that and it will be really interesting to see how high people will bid on these items to get their name thrown in that raffle.”
The event is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Menominee Animal Shelter and Holzberger says the proceeds are critical to keeping the doors open and the lights on at the local shelter.
“We get a lot of donations of product throughout the year which helps us to take care of the animals in their physical needs and we get volunteer help to take care of their physical needs, but the money still comes in handy when you have to pay the bills. You’ve got vet bills, you’ve got heat and electricity bills, and you’ve got general maintenance of any type of building, you need to have cash, also. So this is the one that brings in the money to bring us through the rest of the year.”
Tickets for the Animal Shelter Auction cost $30 each and include dinner. They’re available only through today at the Menominee Animal Shelter, JD 1st Real Estate or Marinette Farm and Garden. Saturday’s event begins at 5 p.m.
