Harding Deems Hospital Move a Success
09/20/2018- A vision that originated seven years ago became reality last month when Bay Area Medical Center opened the doors to their new hospital on University Drive in Marinette. Tuesday, BAMC President and CEO Ed Harding gave the Marinette County Board of Supervisors an inside look at the precision planning that was involved in moving from one facility to another. He says there’s no guidebook on transporting an entire hospital, so it was up to them to figure out just what it would take to pull off a successful move.
So, what happens to the old hospital now that the new one is up and running? Harding says BAMC has money in escrow to demolish the facility on Shore Drive if it remains vacant in five years, but he’s hopeful that won’t be the case.
Harding says 25 patients were transported on the hospital’s moving day last month. The entire process took about 6.5 hours.
