HOPE Legislation Signed into Law
Two more of Representative John Nygren’s HOPE bills are now Wisconsin state law. The legislation, signed by Governor Scott Walk Monday, creates two new attorney positions at the state’s Department of Justice to help prosecute drug crimes and initiates grant programs that will fund family treatment courts and police efforts to fight drug trafficking. School boards will also now be required to provide instruction about drug abuse awareness and prevention. Assembly bills 906 and 907 bring the total number of bills from Nygren’s HOPE agenda signed into law to 30.
