Human Trafficking Presentation Planned
04/01/2019- It’s a danger most don’t think of in rural communities like ours, but safety officials say human trafficking activity can and does happen throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and a presentation being planned by the Marinette-Menominee Communities That Care for Monday, April 8th hopes to educate residents about the threat. The event takes place in the UW-Green Bay Marinette Campus Cafeteria and features Marlene Mottes, Administrator of the Upper Peninsula Human Trafficking Task Force. Mottes will present on warning signs to look for in both victims and traffickers, who can be a target of human trafficking, and both federal and Michigan laws regarding human trafficking. There will also be an opportunity for guests to ask questions and share their concerns, as well as information for those who’d like to get more involved with UPHTTF. The presentation begins at 6:00 PM.
