Ihander to Receive New Sentence
01/07/2019- A Menominee County man convicted of killing a woman and hiding her body in the trunk of a car at the Cedar River Marina in 2015 will be re-sentenced. The conviction of 51-year-old Gregory Ihander was upheld by the Michigan Court of Appeals, but the court vacated his sentence because of an error in a pre-sentencing report involving the assessment of Ihander’s previous criminal record. Ihander had also requested he be sentenced by a new judge because he has filed a grievance against Judge Mary Barglind who heard the initial case, however, that request was denied. In February of 2017, a jury found Ihander guilty of the stabbing death of Jolene Eichorn and he was originally sentenced to 40-to 50 years in prison. A new sentencing date has yet to be scheduled.
