Investment Firm Eyes Pinecrest Purchase

The millage request for Pinecrest Medical Care Facility is scrapped, but a new plan to sell the property to an outside investment firm could be in the works. Because Dicksinson County failed to approve placing the millage question on their ballot, the item will not go to vote in Menominee, Delta, or Dickinson Counties. However, Menominee County Administrator Jason Carviou says the company Pritok Capital of Illinois recently contacted officials in all three counties about the possibility of purchasing Pinecrest.
Commissioner John Nelson says Pinecrest is one of the biggest employers of the county and if a for-profit firm is allowed to come in and cut wages, the effects will be far-reaching.
Carviou stressed that all three counties would have to agree to the sale of Pinecrest before any action could be taken. The facility had previously sought the approval of 0.65 mills from residents in Menominee, Delta, and Dicksinson Counties for a total of $1.5 million over five years to improve their facilities and cover bad debt.
