January is Blood Donor Month
01/03/2019- Just a few minutes of your time could help save a life this month. January is National Blood Donor Month and it comes at a time when supplies tend to be at their lowest at blood banks across the US. Marc Sutton is an Account Manager for the American Red Cross. He says the Blood Donor Month is about increasing the awareness of the importance of each and every donation.
The blood type in highest demand is O-negative, which is a universal match. Sutton says there are a few misconceptions about donating that often keep people from taking part, but the only way to know for sure if you’re eligible to donate is to visit a blood drive.
Blood drives will be held locally next Monday and Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette. To find other blood drive dates and locations or to schedule an appointment to give, visit redcrossblood.org.
