Local Fill the Boot Campaign

The Marinette Fire Department raised more than $21000 last year to benefit area children suffering from Muscular Dystrophy and they’re hoping to do the same this week during their annual Fill the Boot Campaign. This Wednesday through Friday, firefighters will be at intersection of Hattie Street and Hall Avenue in Marinette collecting donations. Firefighter Jason Lemire says the money will be given to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to provide home medical equipment and summer camp scholarships for children affected by neuromuscular diseases.
The Marinette Fire Department has participated in this nationwide event for more than a decade and Lemire says the fundraiser is something the department looks forward to each year.
Drivers travelling near the Hattie Street/Hall Avenue area are asked to be patient as minor traffic slowdowns are possible during the Fill the Boot event. Firefighters will be collecting donations from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
