Marinette County Board

Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve gave his annual report to the Marinette County Board Tuesday.  He was pleased to report that the County only recorded two traffic fatalities in 2017, neither of which involved alcohol.

In the wake of the school mass shooting in Florida, the sheriff says he’s not among those favoring the arming of teachers.

Sauve says his department has and will continue to work with schools in the county on their action plans to respond to dangerous situations.

The County Board approved an ordinance that will allow ATV/UTV use on limited sections of County Highways.  ATV Clubs and Municipalities may submit suggestions which must are reviewed by  the Highway and Sheriff’s Departments. Most of the routes now open to ATV/UTV use are in the northern part of the county and are limited to between May 1st and December 1st.

The Board also amended the ordinance on County Government to reduce the number of standing committees to six: administrative, development, executive, human services, infrastructure, and public services.  The change in committee structure will take effect upon the board’s reorganization following the April Election.
