Mayor Genisot Delivers 2019 State of the City
02/06/2019- Progress and forward-thinking: two terms that encapsulate the message of Marinette’s 2019 State of the City Address. Marinette Mayor Steve Genisot delivered the report to Common Council Tuesday night. In it he highlights the completion of three multi-million-dollar facilities: the Community REC Center, the new Bay Area Medical Center hospital, and the Bellin Health Medical facility. Mayor Genisot also spoke about the redevelopment of Pine Tree Mall and the improvements made to the Menekaunee Harbor Park and Boat Launch. He remains optimistic about future of the Marinette’s economy and workforce under the newly announced state plan to commit $31-million to the shipyard expansion at Fincantieri Marinette Marine, which is projected to bring in an additional 400 full-time jobs. Despite all this, he adds, there’s still work to be done. Mayor Genisot says the city’s next focus will be on studying options for the aging and undersized City Hall building and Police Department.
