MDHHS Offers Grants to Native American Organizations

Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services says federal grant money is available for Native American organizations in the state. The funding, totaling $4.5-million, is to be used to provide services for crime victims and MDHHSS will award three-year U-S Department of Justice grants of between $50-thousand and $500-thousand. The division is currently accepting applications from 12 Native American organizations in Michigan, including the Hannahville Indian Community. Michigan has the most federally-funded recognized Native American tribes of any state east of the Mississippi River.
