Menominee County CASA Benefits from National Grant
01/07/2020- Menominee County’s CASA program is the recipient of a national grant from the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association for Children to spread awareness about the important work they do. The funds will be used to tailor a national public awareness campaign about child abuse and neglect for our area. Faith Sandahl, Executive Director of CASA of Menominee County says while many people are familiar with the name, they don’t know the full extent of what CASA does or just how many local kids they serve.
CASA of Menominee County is run primarily by a group of specially trained volunteers who advocate for children who come under the jurisdiction the county’s family court. Now in their 16th year, Sandahl says the program is making a big difference in the lives of kids who’ve experienced abuse or neglect.
There are nearly 950 CASA or related programs nationwide. Those interested in getting involved locally can call 715-923-7250 for more information on upcoming training events.
