Menominee County Declares State of Emergency
A State of Emergency is declared for Menominee County as crews work to clear and assess flooded roadways following last weekend’s heavy rain. Menominee County Emergency Management Director Rich Sexton says portions of G 12 and G 18, as well as several local roads are closed as they remain under water or have been impacted by sinkholes. Sexton adds the Road Commission is working to reopen these roads as soon as possible, but until that happens, drivers should stay away.
Sexton says some parts mid-Menominee County received up to seven inches of rain Saturday. Preliminary cost estimates for the washout and erosion damage are between $100-thousand and $200-thousand.
