Mental Health Court Close to Complete

The Marinette County Mental Health Court could start taking participants as soon as June, according to Judge Jim Morrison.
Morrison addressed the County Board about the need to create such a program, which would be one of only a handful in the state. He believes many of the inmates at the county jail ended up there because of untreated mental health conditions.
Morrison says many people doubted the availability of resources for the program. But, he adds, the same thing was said during the planning phase of the county’s drug court, and that has seen a success rate well above the national average for the last four years.
The County Board approved more than $100-thousand in expenditures necessary to create the Mental Health Court at their meeting Tuesday.
