MI DNR Seeks Input on ORV Use of Forest Roads
The Michigan DNR is seeking input from residents about off-road vehicle use on forest roads in the Upper Peninsula. UP forest roads are required to be inventoried and designated as open or closed to ORV use and the DNR has spent several months mapping these roads in the region to determine where user conflicts and environmentally sensitive areas could exist. Beginning May 1st, proposed forest road classifications can be viewed online at Michigan-dot-gov-slash-forest-roads. Residents can also attend any of four public meetings to be held throughout the UP to provide their feedback. During the classification period, forest roads will remain open to ORV use and any changes will not take effect until January of 2019.
