Michigan and Wisconsin Fall General Election Results

11/07/2018- The results are in for Menominee County’s contested Commissioner races. In District 1, Incumbent Steve Gromala defeats Jason Chaltry 444 to 292. District 2 has Bernie Lang with 536 votes and challenger Patricia Mueller with 408. Incumbent Larry Phelps holds his District 3 seat with 325 votes as compared to 199 for Edward Powell Jr and 188 for Joe Ciochetto. In District 4, Larry Schei saw 484 votes versus 389 for Steve Ecker and 148 for David Thompson. Incumbent William Cech beats Gary Anderson in District 5 595 to 386. And, in District 8, incumbent Jan Hafeman defeated challenger Tim Lafave 541 to 293. David Prestin, Gerald Piche, and Larry Johnson Jr each ran unopposed in Districts 6, 7, and 9, respectively.
Elsewhere in Menominee County, Connie Westrich defeated Amy Larson in the race for City of Stephenson mayor 187 votes to 98 and the three candidates elected to serve on the Stephenson City Council are John Starzynski, Ronald Zahorik, and Jen Bastien. Voters also approved a four-million-dollar bonding proposal for Bark River Harris Schools with 302 Yes votes to 280 Nos.
On the other side of the river in Marinette County, Sheriff Jerry Sauve has secured another term with 13810 votes versus 1746 written in for Fred Popp and incumbent Sheila Dudka beat write-in candidate Carrie Brazeau for Clerk of Circuit Court 13599 to 1729.
In the rest of Wisconsin:
With 99 percent of the precincts reporting, Democrat Tony Evers has apparently defeated Incumbent Republican Governor Scott Walker 50-48 percent. Evers leads Walker by about 30,000 votes. As of this morning, Walker had not yet conceded.
Even closer is the race for Attorney General where Democrat Josh Kaul leads Incumbent Republican Brad Schimel 50-49 percent.
In other races, Incumbent Democrat Senator Tammy Baldwin easily won a second term defeating Leah Vukmir.
Other Incumbents easily winning reelection were 8th district Congressman Mike Gallager, and representatives John Nygren in the 89th district, and Jeff Mursau in the 36th district.

In Michigan, the Democrats grabbed all the top races, Gretchen Whitmer will be the next governor, Jocelyn Benson winning Secretary of State and Dana Nessell winning attorney general. Debbie Stabenow was reelected to the U S Senate.
In races closer to home, Republican Beau LaFave was reelected to the State House from the 108th district, and Republican Ed McBroom won the 38th District Senate seat. Republican Jack Bergman was reelected to Congress from the 1st district.
All three Michigan Ballot proposals passed, including Proposal 1 to legalize recreational use of marijuana.
