12/04/2018- The Michigan DNR has surpassed their CWD testing goal in the UP. With the help of area hunters, the agency has tested more than 700 deer heads from a core area established around Waucedah Township in Dickinson County where the first case of CWD in the Upper Peninsula was confirmed earlier this fall. The DNR had initially set a goal to collect samples from a minimum of 600 deer. In addition to the hunter submissions, deer tested also include road kill and deer damage permit kills. The DNR reports no additional cases of CWD have been detected thus far.
