SBR Group Seeks City Financial Support
12/18/2018- For Marinette and Menominee to make it from the Top 10 to number one for season four of Small Business Revolution, it’s going to take a lot of effort and a little cash. That’s the message presented by the Twin City Team of Local Businesses to the Menominee City Council last night. Area business owners Keith Killen and Kim Brooks brought a request to the council that the city commit $5000 to the local effort to help offset the cost of marketing the area and hosting a reception for Deluxe Company representatives in January. Killen says while the initial push to make it into the top ten was funded privately, it will require much more money and effort to gather support should the M&M area make it into the nationwide voting round for the Top 5.
However, it’s unclear where the funds would come from or if they’re even available. City Manager Tony Graff says granting the request would require making some budget amendments.
The request has been referred to the city’s Finance Committee. They’ll take up the discussion at a meeting this evening.
