Slow Progress on UW Merger
Just when will UW-Marinette’s merger with UW-Green Bay take place and what will those changes look like? These questions have yet to be answered by university officials.
Tuesday, Matt Dornbush, UWGB’s Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs presented the Marinette County Board with an update on the merger. He says although progress may be slow, the success of the project depends on the input from several different agencies.
The merger of UWGB with three of the UW-System’s two-year colleges in Marinette, Sheboygan, and Manitowoc, has been named Project Coastal. Dornbush says, functionally, he doesn’t expect much difference for students in the 2018-2019 academic year and it could take up to three years for the all changes to take effect.
The merger of all UW-Colleges with larger four-year universities was initially expected to be complete this summer.
