Suspects in Jail for Separate Summer Robberies in Marinette County
08/29/2019- Two robberies and two arrests. Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve reports that clearance by arrest has been made in a pair of recent armed robberies. The first happened July 8th when the Stephenson National Bank and Trust in Pembine was held up at gun pint by a male subject who fled with stolen cash. That suspect, now identified as 42-year-old Jason Burgett of Milwaukee, was then arrested after robbing bank in Lake Hallie, Wisconsin. Burgett is also a suspect in an attempted bank robbery in Escanaba and faces federal prosecution.
On August 10th, the Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Coleman was also robbed by a man who threatened to use a firearm. He fled on foot and investigative efforts with several other agencies eventually led to the arrest of 50-year-old Martin Bub Jr of Fond du Lac. He’s currently being lodged at the Winnebago County jail on a parole violation, but the local District Attorney’s Office is preparing a criminal complaint charging him with armed robbery in Marinette County.
