UWGB Studies Impact of COVID-19 on NPOs

06/08/2020- A new report by UW-Green Bay’s Center for Public Affairs shows the dramatic effect the Covid-19 crisis has had on Nonprofit Organizations in Northeast Wisconsin. The study examined the financial issues, human resources, program delivery and needs for support as nonprofit organizations continued to serve the community after the stay home orders were issued by Governor Evers in March. The research included 139 nonprofit organizations in Northeast Wisconsin and found that over half have reduced staff and 80% have reduced usage of volunteers. In addition, three-fourths are concerned about being able to connect with some of their most vulnerable clients. While most of these organizations report that they can continue to operate for the next eight weeks, the next round of the survey due in July will examine how they have fared. The goal of the report is to share information with government and corporate leaders about how the nonprofit sector is doing so that community leaders can support the viability of these critical organizations
