Vannieuwenhoven Arraigned on Murder Charges
07/02/2019- Not guilty pleas are entered by the suspect in a double murder cold case. 82-year-old Raymand Vannieuwenhoven was arraigned Monday in Marinette County Court on two counts of first-degree intentional homicide for the 1976 shooting deaths of Ellen Matheys and David Schuldes in McClintock Park near Silver Cliff. Vannieuwenhoven was taken into custody earlier this year when new technological advancements from Virginia-based Parabon NanoLabs linked his DNA to DNA evidence recovered from the scene more than forty years ago. While both parties sort through the more than one-thousand pages of discovery that have been provided, the defense says they also plan to hire an investigator and bring several other experts on board. Vannieuwenhoven is due back in court for a status conference September 27th.
