Weather Conditions Keeping Some Roadside Parks Closed Longer Than Expected

RoadsidePark.jpg

04/24/2019- Most of the UP’s roadside parks will reopen this week, but others will remain closed a while longer. Parks operated by the Michigan DOT in Menominee, Delta, and Dickinson Counties will open for the 2019 season tomorrow, but more than a dozen parks in other parts of the UP are expected to remain closed until at least mid-May due to weather conditions. While some parks will be open this week, visitors should not expect drinking water to be turned on until sometime next month after annual testing and treatment of the park water systems is complete. In total, MDOT maintains 32 roadside parks throughout the UP which are typically open from April through October.
