Wisconsin Hunting Success Up in 2018

11/28/2018- It appears hunters had better luck in Wisconsin this year than they did in 2017. The DNR has released preliminary numbers for the 9-day gun deer season and it shows more than 211000 deer were registered this year- an almost 7% increase over 2017 figures. In Marinette County’s Central Farmland Zone, hunters bagged a total of around 3700 deer. That’s up 38% from last year. There was a 19% decrease in deer harvested in the county’s Northern Forest Zone where 2300 deer were registered. However, the DNR does note that Marinette County saw Deer Management Unit boundary changes this year, which likely accounts for some of the differences in harvest numbers between 2017 and 2018.
