BOYS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL LAST NIGHT
DIVISION 5 SECTIONAL SEMI-FINALS
WAUSAUKEE LOST A HEARTBREAKER 68-67 TO LAONA-WABENO AT ELCHO HIGH SCHOOL. THE RANGERS LED BY 4 POINTS WITH 15 SECONDS TO PLAY BUT MIKE STAMPER OF THE REBELS HIT A THREE POINTER TO MAKE IT A ONE POINT GAME. AFTER A RANGERS FREE THROW STAMPER BANKED IN A THREE POINTER WITH 5 SECONDS TO PLAY. THE RANGERS MISSED A SHOT AT THE BUZZER. STAMPER LED THE REBELS WITH 21 POINTS. HAYDEN RENIKOW HAD A GAME-HIGH 29 POINTS FOR THE RANGERS.
THE GAME WAS PLAYED IN FRONT OF A LIMITED NUMBER OF FANS DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS GLOBAL PANDEMIC.

THE MICHIGAN HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION HAS SUSPENDED ALL POST-SEASON EVENTS.
MENOMINEE WAS SET TO HOST ESCANABA TONIGHT AND CARNEY-NADEAU WAS SET TO HOST NORTH CENTRAL.
ALL TOURNAMENT GAMES IN MICHIGAN ARE POSTPONED WITH NO MAKE-UP DATES BEING ANNOUNCED.

THE FIRST DAY OF THE WISCONSIN GIRLS STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT AT THE RESCH CENTER DID GO ON AS SCHEDULED. GAMES WERE PLAYED IN FRONT OF A LIMITED NUMBER OF FANS.
