TREY BRETL GOT THE WIN IN THE OPENER GOING THE DISTANCE IN THE 5 INNING GAME. BRETL HELPED HIS CAUSE WITH A HIT AND THREE RUNS SCORED.
JADEN WERNER GOT THE WIN IN THE SECOND GAME PITCHING SIX AND TWO THIRDS INNINGS, GIVING UP 2 HITS AND I RUN WITH 9 K’S.

MENOMINEE 5 MARQUETTE 2    ZACH STARZYNSKI GOT THE WIN FOR THE RED WAVE PITCHING 4 INNINGS, ALLOWING ONE HIT AND ONE UNEARNED RUN.  ANDREW SCHROEDER LED THE OFFENSE WITH 3 HITS. MENOMINEE, NOW 3-0, WILL HOST BARK RIVER-HARRIS IN A DOUBLEHEADER ON MONDAY STARTING AT 5PM.

TWO MARINETTE HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS MADE THE ALL NORTHEASTERN CONFERENCE BASEBALL FIRST TEAM. INFIELDER RYLIE NELSON AND PITCHER TREY BRETL.  SENIOR TYLER FAYTA MADE SECOND TEAM AS AN OUTFIELDER. NELSON BATTED .386, BRETL HAD A 1.89 ERA AND FAYTA BATTED .302 AND MADE ACADEMIC ALL-STATE WITH A 4.0 GRADE POINT AVERAGE.

MARINETTE FINISHED 6TH IN DIVISION 2 AT THE STATE TOURNAMENT AT UNIVERSITY RIDGE IN MADISON. THE MARINES CARDED A 27 HOLE TOTAL OF 504. EDGWOOD SACRED HEART WON THE TEAM TITLE WITH A 464. THE SECOND DAY WAS SHORTEDED TO NINE HOLES DUE TO BAD WEATHER.
MARINETTE SOPHOMORE TY KRETS FINISHED IN A TIE FOR THIRD PLACE CARDING A 110.

COLEMAN FINISHED IN A TIE FOR SIXTH PLACE IN DIVISION 3 WITH A 27 HOLE TOTAL OF 561. RONCALLI WON THE TEAM TITLE WITH A 493.
COLEMAN SENIOR KASEY CASPER PLACED 5TH WITH A 115 SCORE.

THE MARINETTE BOYS GOLF TEAM IS IN 6TH PLACE AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF THE WIAA STATE TOURNAMENT AT UNIVERSITY RIDGE IN MADISON. THE MARINES CARDED A 326 ON MONDAY. EDGWOOD SACRED HEART IS SETTING THE PACE IN DIVISION 2 WITH A 305. MARINETTE SOPHOMORE TY KRETZ FIRED A ONE UNDER PAR 71 YESTERDAY, TIED FOR SECOND, FOUR SHOTS BEHIND THE LEADER. MATT WAGNER SHOT AN 81 FOR THE MARINES.
IN D-3, COLEMAN IS IN 7TH PLACE AFTER SHOOTING A 384. RONCALLI IS IN FIRST WITH A 330. KASEY CASPER PACED THE COUGARS WITH A 79.

THE PESHTIGO BOYS FINISHED THIRD OUT OF 64 TEAMS IN DIVISION 2 AT THE WIAA STATE TRACK AND FIELD MEET HELD IN LACROSSE ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. SENIOR MAX RAUCH WON THE POLE VAULT FOR A SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR AND SENIOR MITCHELL VANVOOREN CAPTURED GOLD IN THE 110 METER HIGH HURDLES. VANVOOREN FINISHED THIRD IN THE 300 HURDLES AND WAS A PART OF THE SIXTEEN HUNDRED RELAY TEAM WITH COLE TRIMBERGER, REID MARQUARDT AND JEROD JANDT THAT FINISHED SECOND. MARINETTE SENIOR CARSON POLOMIS FINISHED 14TH IN THE SIXTEEN HUNDRED METER RUN ON SATURDAY.

THE MENOMINEE GIRLS FINISHED 4TH AT THE UP TRACK AND FIELD FINALS AT KINGSFORD ON SATURDAY WITH 59 POINTS. MARQUETTE WAS FIRST WITH 106. GLADSTONE WON THE BOYS TITLE, MENOMINEE WAS 11TH. MENOMINEE SOPHOMORE MAKENZIE WELLNER WON THE 100 HIGH HURDLES FOR A SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR.

THE STEPHENSON GIRLS PLACED 5TH AND THE BOYS 6TH IN D-3. SENIOR MONTELL GLOVER WON GOLD IN THE 100 METER DASH WITH A RECORD BREAKING TIME OF 11.19 SECONDS. EAGLES SENIOR AMANDA STARZYNSKI WON GOLD IN THE GIRLS 100 METER DASH.

MARINETTE AND COLEMAN ARE BOTH COMPETING AT THE WIAA STATE MEET AT UNIVERSITY RIDGE IN MADISON IN DIVISIONS 2 AND 3 RESPECTIVLY. THE STATE MEET TEES OFF AT 8 THIS MORNING.

XAVIER 10 MARINETTE 0

THE STATE TRACK AND FIELD MEET GETS UNDERWAY IN LACROSSE TODAY AND RUNS THROUGH SATURDAY. BOTH MARINETTE AND PESHTIGO HAVE NUMEROUS ATHLETES WHO WILL BE COMPETING FOR MEDALS AT STATE.
KAITLYN KITZINGER OF MARINETTE WILL COMPETE IN THE 400 METER DASH FOR A THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR. MITCHELL VANVOOREN OF PESHTIGO WILL COMPETE IN TWO HURDLES AND ONE RELAY AND HIS TEAMMATE MAX RAUCH IS BACK TO DEFEND HIS TITLE IN THE POLE VAULT.
CRIVITZ, GILLETT AND SURING ALSO HAVE ATHLETES COMPETING AT STATE.

THE MENOMINEE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS GOLF TEAM CAPTURED THE DIVISION ONE U.P. CHAMPIONSHIP YESTERDAY AT SWEETGRASS AT THE ISLAND RESORT AND CASINO IN HARRIS. THE MAROONS, U.P. CHAMPS FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2008, CARDED A 385. ESCANABA WAS SECOND WITH A 412. SENIOR EMMA HOFER HAD THE LOW SCORE FOR MENOMINEE WITH A 87.
HOUGHTON WON THE BOYS TEAM TITLE. MENOMINEE WAS SIXTH LED BY ANDREW MACINTYRE’S 81.

HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL REGIONAL FINALS YESTERDAY
PESHTIGO 5 BONDUEL 3 IN A DIVISION 3 MATCH-UP. DARREN DIONNE GOT THE WIN FOR THE BULLDOGS ALLOWING ONE EARNED RUN IN SIX AND A THIRD INNINGS OF WORK. PESHTIGO WILL PLAY SAINT MARY CATHOLIC IN CRANDON NEXT TUESDAY AT 1PM IN THE SECTIONAL SEMI-FINALS.

THE MARINETTE BOYS GOLF TEAM IS HEADING TO STATE AFTER WINNING THE DIVISION 2 SECTIONAL TITLE AT INDIANHEAD GOLF CLUB IN MOSINEE YESTERDAY. THE MARINES CARDED A 334, 16 SHOTS BETTER THAN SECOND PLACE WINNECONNE. SOPHMORE TY KRETZ LED MARINETTE WITH A 75, THE SECOND LOW SCORE OF THE DAY. FRESHMAN KELTEN HERMANSON HAD A CAREER BEST 77. PESHTIGO FINISHED 4TH AND FAILED TO QUALIFY ANY INDIVIDUALS. THE STATE TOURNAMENT IS NEXT WEEK AT UNIVERSITY RIDGE IN MADISON.
THE COLEMAN COUGARS FINISHED SECOND AT THE DIVISION 3 SECTIONAL AT CRIVITZ TO ADVANCE TO STATE. COLEMAN WAS LED BY KASEY CASPER WHO FIRED A 77 AND IS HEADING TO STATE FOR A FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW. THE COUGARS CARDED A 380, PACELLI WAS FIRST WITH A 342.
WILL SHERMAN OF OCONTO QUALIFIED AS AN INDIVIDUAL.
