06/27/2019- The ninth locally-built Littoral Combat Ship has completed its acceptance trials in Lake Michigan. It’s the last major milestone for LCS 17, the future USS Indianapolis, before delivery to the Navy. The ship was constructed at Fincantieri Marinette Marine and was christened and launched in April. The acceptance trials include a full-power run, maneuverability testing, and surface and air detect-to-engage demonstrations of the ship’s combat system, among other tests. LCS 17 is slated to be delivered to the Navy later this year.
