04/01/2020- Families out for a stroll in Marinette and Menominee during this coronavirus pandemic should look out for bears- teddy bears, that is. What started as a social media campaign has led to more than 70 homeowners in the M&M area placing bears, bunnies, and other stuffed animals in their windows for a cities-wide bear hunt for children and families looking for something to do during the COVID-19 lockdown. Jeanne Anderson spearheaded the local effort and says she’s surprised at just how many people are now participating.
In addition to stuffed animals, Anderson says some homes are also electing to place hearts or Easter eggs in or on their windows to be found. Similar “bear hunts” are happening worldwide, offering families a welcome distraction and a sense of community togetherness in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
