09/11/2018- Repair work is coming to some Marinette landmarks. This summer, the city’s Historic Preservation Commission discussed the need to repair and add mortar to the base of the Ike Stephenson statue. Monday, the Commission received an update from Forester Todd Lapacz indicating the cost of the maintenance work will be around $800, which will be covered by the City and likely completed this fall. In addition, some commissioners are worried about the possible bronze disease that has begun to affect the Ike Stephenson statue and are seeking a professional analysis on the issue. Lapacz has also requested quotes for preservation work for the soldier statue on Stephenson Island, however, those figures have not yet been received.
