Menominee County Launches Medical Supplies Collection
03/26/2020- Menominee County is organizing a community campaign to collect personal protective equipment to be redistributed to emergency responders and healthcare personnel in the community. As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, there’s a critical nationwide shortage of personal protective equipment, such as gloves, medical masks, N-95 respirators, gowns, and hand sanitizer and Menominee County Administrator Jason Carviou says it’s leaving medical professionals ill-equipped to care for patients. Now, he’s asking residents to consider donating any of these products they may have on hand to help out.
Carviou says there has been an attempt by the Michigan National Guard to fill the supplies gap, but it’s still falling short of the current level of need.
Because of Michigan’s Stay Home, Stay Safe order, residents will not be asked to deliver any supplies they have available to the County for distribution. Instead, those people can contact Carviou in the Menominee County Administrator’s Office to arrange for these items to be picked up directly from their homes.
