It’s back to the drawing board for Menominee County in their search to fill the vacant county administrator position.
After closed-session discussions Tuesday night, commissioners voted two-to-six against a motion to offer the job to Jeff Thornton. Thornton had previously been considered the top pick to fill the role. County Board Chairman Gerald Piche says he’s uncertain if Thornton will even remain in the candidate pool.
Four applicants were interviewed for the job last month. Piche says the discussion now goes back to the county’s negotiations committee
In the meantime, Sherry DuPont will continue to serve as Menominee County’s interim administrator. The county has been without a permanent administrator since October of 2016.
