National Pet Preparedness Month

Summer can bring the potential for severe weather, which often has families putting together emergency preparedness kits “just in case,” but, are you keeping every family member in mind? June is National Pet Preparedness Month and the Michigan State Police say a family readiness kit isn’t complete without supplies to get your furry or feathered friends through an emergency. To create a pet preparedness kit, keep things like your pet’s food, water, and bowls, a leash and collar, necessary medications, and a first aid kit in a safe location near your family’s emergency kit. You should also have copies of a photo of your pet and immunization and veterinary records available. The state police say it’s important to plan ahead because if a situation isn’t safe for you, it isn’t safe for your pet, either.
