04/08/2020- Multiple fire and medical units were on the scene of a structure fire in Porterfield for several hours yesterday morning. The call came in at about 6:45 a.m. and Grover-Porterfield Fire Department Chief Bob Chaltry says the fire started in a pole building on Popple Road off Highway 180 and eventually spread to a home on the same property that had already been burned six years ago. No residents were on the property at the time of the blaze, which took crews until around 12:15 to fully extinguish. Both buildings were considered a total loss and were immediately demolished. No injuries were reported by any of the responding agencies and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
