01/17/2019- Shopko has officially filed for bankruptcy and plans to shutter dozens of locations nationwide. As part of its restructuring efforts, the Ashwaubenon-based retailer will close 38 stores including seven in Northeast Wisconsin; however, there is some good news for local shoppers as the Marinette store does not appear on the list published Wednesday. The company says it will also move 20 of its optical centers to freestanding locations and will auction its remaining pharmacy business. The bankruptcy announcement has been anticipated by customers and business analysts since the retailer released a plan to close 39 stores and sell their pharmacy business at 40 locations in December. Most of the impacted stores are expected to close in March or April.
