11/16/2018- It looks like a water extraction system planned for Marinette’s Runnoe Park won’t be located there after all. After gaining county board approval, Tyco intended to install the interim action system designed to filter PFAS compounds out of ditch water before it reached the bay in the park near the U-W campus. However, the company is now seeking to place the feature further inland on Marinette’s Luther Home property. Additionally, the filtration system will be entirely housed by a new building on the site, making it largely inconspicuous. Tyco representatives say the change comes following some public objection to the initial plans to place the system at Runnoe Park. This week, Marinette’s Plan Commission approved an amendment to municipal code to include these types of enclosed water extraction system as a conditional use. If that amendment is passed by the full City Council, Tyco can then move forward with applying for that conditional use permit and begin construction.
