Unemployment figures continue to fall across Wisconsin and locally. May’s jobless rate for Marinette County came in at 3.4%, down from 3.9% in April, according to the state’s Department of Workforce Development. The county’s unemployment one year ago also stood at 3.9%. The seasonally unadjusted statewide numbers show unemployment in the Badger State dropped to 2.6% in May. That’s down from 2.7% in April and 3.1% in May of 2017.

Joblessness also dips in Menominee County. May’s unemployment rate came in at 4.2%, as compared to 4.7% in April. Last month’s rate is up slightly, however, from the 3.8% unemployment recorded in May of 2017. Michigan’s statewide unemployment rate for May fell to 3.8% last month. That’s down from 4% in April and even with the 3.8% joblessness seen at this time last year.
